About Miriam

Miriam Lois Serman, Ed. M.

Miriam likes to tease that she was a collegiate yoga teacher before people knew how to spell it!  She began offering hatha yoga classes at Boston University’s Case Athletic Center in 1970.  Miriam credits David John Carmos, PhD with her original inspiration and mentoring in the style of Vithaldas and Vishnudevananda.  Her further training includes classes with well-known teachers such as Iyengar and Satchitananda (Integral Yoga), and Gary Kraftsow (Viniyoga) among others.  Miriam’s own hatha yoga style is a blend of the above enriched by her Master’s Degree in Exercise Rehabilitation, also from Boston University.  Today Miriam lives and works in Los Angeles and Hawaii, traveling and teaching at home and abroad.  She has been accepted as a PhD candidate in Mind/Body Medicine.

Miriam delights in training new students as well as challenging experts to excel.  Her work compliments other athletic pursuits from hiking to hang-gliding.  She designs programs for busy executives, attorneys and business owners.  Because of her academic background, Miriam is uniquely attuned to remediating specific physical conditions or injuries.  (Yoga is not intended to be a substitute for any necessary medical treatments)
